Highlights
• Some 8.3 million people are estimated to be in need of humanitarian assistance in South Sudan in 2021. This is an increase of 10 percent when compared to the 7.5 million people in need in 2020.
• WFP reached 263,556 people living in Priority One Counties with 7,800 mt of food and nutrition assistance by the end of January.
• WFP Executive Director, David Beasley, and Regional Director for East Africa, Michael Dunford, visited South Sudan 3-5 February. The delegation visited activities in Verteth, Greater Pibor Administrative area, and Bor, Jonglei State.

Highlights
• WFP began cash-based transfers to more than 2,200 targeted vulnerable households in Catanduanes on 17 December, with a contribution from the Government of Australia.
• WFP will be implementing a second round of cash-based transfers with a contribution from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund.
• WFP transported 74,600 family food packs to the affected areas in Bicol Region, with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). WFP has since mobilized 73 trucks in support of the Government of Philippines to transport food and non-food items.

Juba, 22 December 2020 – In line with Eliminate Yellow Fever Epidemics (EYE) strategy to prevent international spread of yellow fever, the World Health Organization (WHO) donated 2 000 doses of yellow fever vaccine to South Sudan’s Ministry of Health to provide protection against the yellow fever virus for international travellers and those living in areas where the disease is present.
