Currently, all vaccine appointments with the Houston Health Department, including those at the drive-thru site, are filled through the end of January.
To sign up for upcoming appointments, city officials recommend signing up for text message alerts through the Alert Houston system at www.houstonemergency.org/alerts. This will notify residents when the health department is accepting new appointments. During earlier rounds, appointment slots have been filling up in a matter of minutes. Appointments are scheduled through www.houstonemergency.org/covid-19-vaccines.
Residents over the age of 65 can sign up for a waitlist through the Area Agency on Aging by calling 832-393-4301. Those with disabilities can join a waitlist through the Mayor s Office for People with Disabilities by calling 832-393-5500.

HOUSTON, Jan, 25 (Xinhua) The first drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination site was launched in Houston, the fourth largest city of the United States, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said Monday.
Turner toured the site with local officials and gave an update on the city s efforts to combat the pandemic. Located at Del Mar Stadium, the site is in partnership with the United Memorial Medical Center. We will expand partnerships with pharmacies and federally qualified health centers to ensure the vaccine is available in the most vulnerable communities and deploy mobile strike teams as needed, Turner said.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) Against the backdrop of a milestone in the city s COVID-19 vaccination efforts, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner offered on Monday a grim record and a reminder of the dire need to expand vaccines to high-risk residents.
The 3,039 new cases reported by Turner are the most recorded for a single day in the city throughout the course of the pandemic.
The statistic comes with some conditions, though. According to Turner, the number comes from an adjustment of cases from the last three days.
Still, the city so far has counted more than 148,500 cases of the coronavirus. Houston s positivity rate stands at 17%.
