Burn ban remains intact, COVID update provided to county commissioners

In session Monday morning, Brown County Commissioners voted to keep the Burn Ban in place.  It was pointed out that the recent snow left little in the way of moisture necessitating the ban on outdoor burning stay in place.  Direct any questions concerning the burn ban to your precinct county commissioner. Also Monday morning, Brown County Commissioners received an update on the current status of COVID-19.  Lisa Dick, administrator of the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department, told commissioners the number of positive COVID cases last week in Brown County was 50, which was down from 151 the previous week.  There was also limited testing due to the extreme weather and clinics being closed. Last Wednesday, those who had vaccines, were allowed to give it to those in the Phase1B Category. In our area, that meant a handful of clinics, the Amarillo Public Health Department, Texas Tech and some United Pharmacies. Texas Tech ran out that same day. As a result, they have not been vaccinating people in this category and say it all depends on when and how many they get in the next shipment.
