Veteran Newshub reporter Dave Goosselink has been covering the stabbing incident at central Dunedin’s Countdown supermarket this week. That meant they would have to cover an area of 65,000 square kilometres. “We deserve better than having to wait for someone to catch the next flight to cover big stories in this part of the country,” Hawkins said. “The less reporting we have on local issues the easier it is for disinformation to spread, to the detriment of all of our communities.” More than 900 people had signed the petition by 10am on Friday.
