Stable pace fueled by moves to further expand domestic market
Foreign direct investment into China is expected to grow at a stable pace this year, thanks to the country s moves to further expand its domestic market and its status as the biggest trading partner of more than 120 countries and regions, said experts and business leaders.
After surpassing the United States as the world s biggest recipient of foreign investment last year, China continues to see fast FDI growth this year. The country s actual use of foreign capital soared by 43.8 percent year-on-year to $44.86 billion in the first quarter of the year, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce.

Backed by Chicago’s Pritzker Military Museum & Library – the competition seeks ‘recognisable and memorable’ concepts for a landmark new monument which will be constructed to commemorate 30 years since the end of the Cold War.

Proposals are required to focus on a rural 116ha site in Somers, Wisconsin where a new Pritzker Archives & Memorial Park Centre – designed by Jahn Architects of Chicago and Berlin – is currently under construction.
According to the brief: ‘The new Cold War Veterans Memorial will give permanent recognition to these and other accomplishments made possible by the often-quiet sacrifices of countless Americans during nearly half a century of fighting to expand freedom and democracy.

The 2020-21 Ontario Hockey League season has been canceled.
The OHL was holding out hope that it would be able to salvage part of the season despite COVID-19 issues but the league announced Tuesday that won’t be possible after Ontario recently extended its stay-at-home order because of increased coronavirus cases.
The OHL’s 20 teams include the Flint Firebirds and Saginaw Spirit as well as another United States-based team, the Erie Otters.
