A ceremony on Friday will redesignate the base near Lompoc and the 30 th Space Wing as Vandenberg Space Force Base and Space Launch Delta 30, under Space Operations Command, United States Space Force, according to base officials. The new organization will allow squadron commanders to report directly to the SLD 30 commander, which the base says will create more efficiency. Ritter, with his engaging stories about his experience in the United States Air Force and journey into the United States Space Force. Ritter was born in England, as his dad served in the Air Force. Growing up, he was accustomed to military life. “I grew up in a military family,” he said. “I have a brother in the Air Force. My father and sister were in the Air Force. And I had an uncle in the Army and my grandfather was in the Navy.”
