Mike Pence made his best tough guy face at a celebration of the anniversary of the United States Space Force on Friday when he announced the name for the service members serving in the newly-created division of the U.S. military.
Said Pence, with emphasis: “We just returned from the Oval Office and so it is my honor, on behalf of the President of the United States, to announce that henceforth, the men and women of the United States Space Force will be known as guardians.”

WASHINGTON (AP) The Trump administration celebrated the first birthday of the U.S. Space Force on Friday by announcing that its members will be known as “guardians.”
Vice President Mike Pence made the announcement at a celebratory event tracing the development of the newest branch of the military over the past year.

Capping off a thoroughly embarrassing year for the nation’s newest not-actually-independent, not-actually-separate branch of the military, the U.S. Space Force on Friday invited nearly universal ridicule when it rolled out the official title by which its personnel will be known “Guardians.”
Along with an extremely self conscious slogan justifying that ridiculous title that invited even more mockery.
