The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office says two people were rescued from Moran Bay on Monday.
They say around 8:27 p.m., deputies, along with St. Ignace Police, MSP St. Ignace Post, the United States Coast Guard- St. Ignace, Straits EMS, Mackinac Rescue 955 and the St. Ignace Fire Department, responded to reports of two people struggling in the water about one-fourth of a mile off the St. Ignace shoreline in Moran Bay.
Deputies say the individuals flipped their kayaks and were unable to get back into them.
They say St. Ignace Police arrived at the scene and were able to observe the two people from the shore. From there, the St. Ignace Police Department directed water assets from the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office, United States Coast Guard and Mackinac Rescue 955 to the individuals.
