The New Orleans Saints mourn the loss of J. D. Roberts, the second head coach in franchise history and an original member of the Saints staff.
Hired midway through the 1970 season as the interim head coach on November 3, 1970, Roberts spent the next two seasons in the full time position. In his first game in charge, Roberts led the Saints to a 19-17 victory over the Detroit Lions in Tulane Stadium when Tom Dempsey kicked a then NFL record 63-yard field goal as time expired. Roberts also served as the first head coach for Saints Hall-of-Fame quarterback and Ring-of-Honor inductee Archie Manning. The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced Meghan Biery has joined the association as director of global technology and security policy. In this role, Biery will work with U.S. and global policymakers and industry stakeholders to advance the semiconductor sector’s technology, national security, and supply chain policy priorities. SIA represents 98 percent of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms.

Five years after Tilda Swinton played The Ancient One in 2016’s Doctor Strange, and two years after reprising her role in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has finally acknowledged that the particular casting was a mistake to begin with.
Not that Swinton was bad for the role in any sense, but in the comic books that the characters was featured in, The Ancient One was in fact Tibetan. Cries of whitewashing followed the casting news of Swinton, and Marvel, at the time, claimed that Swinton’s casting was meant to support creative freedom. Some even said that it was to increase the movie’s chance of opening in China, which has so far laid claim to Tibet and its people. It did.

Ron Coley, a senior executive with management and financial expertise in higher education, municipal government and national defense, was named Cal State Fullerton’s vice president for administration and finance, and chief financial officer. In this role, Coley will succeed Danny Kim, who after serving in this position for more than seven years announced his retirement effective July 1. Coley, whose appointment began May 17, will serve in this capacity while the university conducts a national search to fill the permanent position.
Coley previously served as associate vice chancellor of business and administrative services at UC Berkeley and vice chancellor of business and administrative services at UC Riverside. Most recently, he served as interim vice president of administration at CSU Dominguez Hills.
