Sam Bee braves the weather to talk to some Capitol protesters who weren t treated quite as nicely
Samantha Bee did her first field piece since the pandemic started on Wednesday’s
Full Frontal, interviewing four people arrested for exercising their right to peacefully protest at the U.S. Capitol. And by “field piece” we mean, she took her cameras, some heaters, and an old TV with a long extension cord out to the middle of an actual, snowy, cold-as-balls field. There, she sat down with a quartet of masked protesters who’ve been handcuffed, manhandled, humiliated, and otherwise treated like common criminals for leading protests at the U.S. Capitol Building.

The debate over metal detectors in the House of Representatives has turned into the “The Karen Wars.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), also known as the Karen-In-Chief, ordered security officials to install metal detectors at each entrance to the chamber shortly after the assault on the U.S. Capitol building, ostensibly to prevent crazed gun-toting members of Congress from slaughtering their colleagues.
However, it appears that Pelosi’s decision has not gone over well with lawmakers and Capitol Police officers tasked with enforcing the rules.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., ordered security officials to install magnetometers at each entrance to the House chamber after the riot. That sparked arguments between USCP officers guarding the doors as members tried to enter the chamber to vote. Some members just cruised right past the metal detectors, drawing the ire of Capitol Police officers – to say nothing of their colleagues.

After the stonewalling I received from the United States Capitol Police in response to my request for the footage from inside the House Capitol Office Buildings from January 6th, I decided to take it to the person who allegedly has that power. Here is the letter I have written to Speaker Pelosi while copying House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. The letter was sent out Tuesday. The text is as shown below.
Dear Madam Speaker,
Last week I sent in a FOIA request to the USCP requesting the footage from inside the House Capitol Office Buildings on January 6
