The Country Needs the January 6th Commission By

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote before its Memorial Day recess on legislation establishing an independent commission to investigate the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol. The bill passed the House 252-to-195. West Virginia First District Congressman David McKinley was among the 35 Republicans who backed the bill.
The outcome in the Senate is less certain. Sixty votes are needed to prevent a filibuster and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has come out against the commission.
“I’ve made the decision to oppose the House Democrats’ slanted and unbalanced proposal for another commission to study the events of Jan. 6,” McConnell said on the Senate floor.
