Bryson DeChambeau’s Olympic dream is over after he tested positive for Covid-19 before leaving the United States.
Golfer Bryson DeChambeau has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss the Tokyo Olympics. In a statement, USA Golf said the world No 6 tested positive a part of the final testing protocol before he left the United States for Japan. He has been replaced by former Masters champion Patrick Reed, who also represented his country at the 2016 Rio Games. Team USA’s strong lineup now includes Reed, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele in the men’s competition, with Lexi Thompson, Nelly Korda, Danielle Kang and Jessica Korda in the women’s event.

TOKYO The golf world is reeling after two of the best golfers will miss the Tokyo Summer Olympics because of the coronavirus. World #1 Jon Rahm of Spain and #6 Bryson DeChambeau of the U.S. both tested positive before leaving for Japan.
A statement from USA Golf said DeChambeau tested positive for the coronavirus as part of the final protocol before he left the U.S. for Japan. He ll be replaced by Patrick Reed who competed in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Reed will now go through the testing protocol before flying to Tokyo.

Bryson DeChambeau was scratched from the U.S. men s Olympic golf team on Saturday after testing positive for COVID-19 in the team s final screening before heading to Tokyo.
Meanwhile, world No. 1 Jon Rahm also tested positive for COVID-19 and has been ruled out of the Tokyo Olympics, the International Golf Federation said on Sunday. The Spaniard had tested positive in the final testing protocol before leaving for the Olympics, the IGF said.
