SAN ANGELO  Standard-Times News Director Jennifer Guadarrama is bidding her farewell to San Angelo after accepting a position with the IndyStar in Indianapolis, part of the USA TODAY Network. Guadarrama has served as Standard-Times news director in San Angelo since May 2017. During her tenure, she focused the Standard-Times on digital storytelling, bringing more locally driven articles into the smart phones and mobile devices of those living in the Concho Valley. When Jen first came on board, we honestly still had a lot to learn about how to reach readers online, deputy editor Paul Harris said. I give her a ton of credit for making that transition possible. Not every newsroom has been able to do that successfully, and I don t know where we d be without her help.

U.S. Figure Skating settles suit with former skater for $1.45MILLION after he claimed an Olympic coach sexually abused him when he was 14 - continuing the abuse even after another athlete reported the coach in 2000 Adam Schmidt filed a lawsuit in 2019 claiming that he suffered numerous sexual assaults by Richard Callaghan while he was training with the coach at 14 Skater-turned-coach Craig Maurizi sued both Callaghan and U.S. Figure Skating in July 2000 over abuse he was allegedly subjected to in the 70s and 80s  Callaghan, who was suspended in 2018 by the federation pending an investigation, has repeatedly denied wrongdoing  Schmidt said he became aware of the previous allegations against Callaghan lodged by Maurizi after the allegations received media attention following the USA Gymnastics scandal
