Virginia Could be Next State to Add Major Consumer Privacy Bill

Tech your username February 8, 2021 Following California’s lead with its California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Virginia has unveiled two bills in its House of Delegates and Senate that were approved in their respective congressional branch and sent to the other for approval.   Both bills “establish( ) a framework for controlling and processing personal data” in Virginia. Accordingly, the bills “appl(y) to all persons that conduct business in the Commonwealth and either (i) control or process personal data of at least 100,000 consumers or (ii) derive over 50 percent of gross revenue from the sale of personal data and control or process personal data of at least 25,000 consumers.” The bills specifically detail responsibilities and standards for privacy protection for data controllers and processors. 317 new free COVID-19 testing sites at Rite-Aid now open | News, Sports, Jobs

From Staff Reports WILLIAMSPORT Three hundred and seventeen additional free drive-through COVID Rite Aid testing sites will be opened across Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey as of Friday, according to a Rite Aid press release. Through Rite Aid’s retail partnership with the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the new sites will have self-swab nasal tests that are overseen by the store’s pharmacists. Locals can visit Williamsport locations on East Third Street, Lycoming Creek Road and Fifth Street as well as East Bishop Street in Bellefonte and North Atherton Street in State College. These sites only have drive through testing and must have appointments that are scheduled online in order to receive a self-swab test.

While the City of Hinesville was celebrating the groundbreaking of their Small Business Incubator in downtown Hinesville, on the opposite end of the County another celebration and groundbreaking ceremony was happening as well. On Jan. 29, County officials and City of Riceboro officials gathered at the new Liberty County Head Start building site.  County Commissioners approved a 40 plus page lease agreement with the Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority for the new Head Start facility last February during a commissioners’ meeting. The county will technically own the land and lease it to the nonprofit which provides community services.
