Timbers sign Manny Perez, loan him to Austin FC

The Portland Timbers announced on Monday that they have signed midfielder Emanuel “Manny” Perez to a one-year contract but will loan him to MLS expansion side Austin FC for the 2021 season. In return, the Timbers will receive Austin’s natural third-round pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, with additional General Allocation Money in play based on how Perez performs with Austin.
The 22-year-old midfielder most recently played for USL Championship side North Carolina FC, tallying one goal and five assists in 37 appearances (27 starts) over two years with the club. Perez has played for the United States National Team multiple times at the youth level, most notably scoring one goal while adding five assists in four appearances with the U.S. National Team squad that won the 2018 Concacaf U-20 Championship.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - LSU senior point guard Khayla Pointer has accepted an invitation to attend the 2021 USA Womenâs Americup Team Trials in Columbia, SC.
Last season, Pointer started all 22 games for the Tigers and averaged 16.9 points a game, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. Pointer was named to the 2021 All-SEC First Team and the SEC All-Defensive Team.
She is one of 20 players invited to attend the team trials being held April 18-21. The Americup Team is coached by South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley.

Twenty of the nation’s top collegiate athletes, including 10 who have captured a combined 21 gold medals competing on past USA Basketball teams, have accepted invitations to attend the April 18-21, 2021 USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team trials.
Invitations to the trials, which will be held at the University of South Carolina, were issued by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee and USA Women’s Senior National Team Committee.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, no media or guests will be allowed to view trials sessions. USA Basketball will provide media with images and b-roll for non-commercial, editorial use on a daily basis.
