Home Depot has announced a recall for about 190,000 ceiling fans sold online and at its stores this year after consumers of one model, the Hampton Bay Mara indoor/outdoor ceiling fan, reported blades disconnecting while in use.
The issue is an isolated manufacturing defect with the assembly of the fan s blades locking clip to the fan flywheel, according to King of Fans, which distributes the Mara model.
The problem affects nearly 182,000 fans sold in the United States and 8,800 sold in Canada from April to October 2020. So far, there have been 47 reports of the fan s blades becoming unattached. Two incidents involve blades hitting consumers; four incidents caused damage to the homeowner s residence.

Hundreds of thousands of Excedrin bottles are being recalled after they were shipped to stores with holes in the bottles that could be a risk to children.
The manufacturer GSK Consumer Health recalled 433,000 bottles of Excedrin Wednesday because they did not meet child resistant packaging. Excedrin can be poisonous for children, and the bottles with holes in them could allow children to access the pills and swallow them.
TREASURE ISLAND â An old bottle brush tree that has been a favorite climbing spot for generations of children in Rosselli Park will be saved for now, with further inspection determining its longevity.
The fervor began with an attempt by the Recreation Department to install new playground equipment for younger children in Rosselli Park. However, what started out as a good deed put the beloved bottle brush tree in conflict with modern-day safety regulations because its branches overhang the play area.
The tree, once praised for providing shade for children playing on the equipment, is now deemed a dangerous climbing hazard, according to regulations devised by agencies such as the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and American Society for Testing and Materials.
