Cato woman accused of failing to deliver mail for USPS, feds say

Syracuse, N.Y. A 37-year-old United States Post Service employee has been accused of not delivering mail for about two weeks late in 2020, according to a news release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
Priscilla Czyz, of Cato, was charged with obstructing the mail, federal prosecutors said Friday. She “willfiully” failed to deliver mail between Sept. 24, 2020 and Oct. 7, 2020, according to to federal prosecutors.
If convicted, she faces up to six months in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. She has been released from federal custody, pending further proceedings.

Just days before Christmas, The United States Postal Service is warning about delays. Packages can be tracked online, but some people are claims their packages have made it to the Rochester distribution center or are in transit, but not to their house.
A record number of packages and staffing shortages are to blame. The United States Post Service says Rochester’s processing and distribution centers have experienced mail challenges due to COVID.
