Palm Springs is fortunate to have a new post office on North Sunrise, open just a month. Unfortunately, the exterior presents problems that should have been corrected and considered in this new construction.
To drop off a letter, one must still wend through the active parking lot to get to the drop-boxes, then merge with vehicles exiting the general parking area. There are no lanes to delineate left and right turns, and a huge exit sign blocks views of oncoming southbound traffic.
Most disturbing is the improper placement of the flagpole, a standard at any United States Post Office. It’s placed alongside the building which prevents the flag from waving in the breeze and causes the flag to get twisted into a mess. The flag hasn’t been displayed since the facility was first open.
