The massive data breach of the United States Commerce and Treasury Departments that has roiled the federal government has resulted in federal securities litigation. On January 4, 2021, Plaintiff-Shareholder Timothy Bremer filed a class action complaint against SolarWinds and SolarWinds’ corporate executives in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. SolarWinds provides information technology and infrastructure management software products to entities around the globe, including to various U.S. government vendors in the executive branch, military, and intelligence services. India, through the Finance Act 2021-21 imposed a 2% digital tax on trade and services by non-resident e-commerce players with a turnover of over 2 crores USTR slams India’s discriminatory digital taxes calls; India defends stance cites OECD report. 
New Delhi: The digital taxes levied by India on Google, Amazon and Facebook are discriminatory and are not in line with international tax norms said United States Trade Representative.
The US administration was investigating digital taxes including Equalisation Levy applied by India under section 301 of the US Trade Act, 1974.
The move paves the way for the US to impose tariffs before President Donald Trump leaves office or early in the administration of President-elect Joe Biden.
