SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A Springfield man was sentenced in federal court Tuesday for using SnapChat to contact 12- and 13-year-old girls in Canada to induce them to engage in sexually explicit behavior.Michael David Miller, 40, was sentenced by U.S. Chief District Judge Beth Phillips to 20 years in federal prison without parole.
On June 2, 2020, Miller pleaded guilty to the coercion and enticement of a minor.
On May 23, 2019, law enforcement in Ottawa, Canada, received multiple reports from 12-to-13-year-old girls that an older man – later identified as Miller – was communicating with them on SnapChat. Miller asked them to engage in sexually explicit activity, sent videos and images of child pornography, and masturbated while on video chat with some of the minors. SnapChat submitted to law enforcement 25 files of suspected child pornography that had been sent between Jan. 6 and May 29, 2019.

A Cedar Rapids man, responsible for producing child pornography and then distributing it online, was sentenced today to 360 months in prison.
Nathan Krejci, age 41, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, received the prison sentence after a June 24, 2020 guilty plea to being a drug user in possession of a firearm, sexual exploitation of a child, and distribution of child pornography.
Information disclosed at his plea and sentencing hearings showed that, beginning in September 2016 and continuing to September 24, 2019, Krejci engaged in sexually explicit conduct with a female child between the ages of 6 and 9 years old. Krejci produced a video of the conduct and distributed still shots of the video to an undercover officer online. SACRAMENTO, Calif. Johnathan David Sprague, 33, of Orangevale, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Kimberly J. Mueller to 25 years in prison for sexual exploitation of a minor, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.
According to court documents, starting in January 2019, Sprague joined a Kik chat group for persons interested in sex with children and sent members of the group messages that contained screenshots of his texting activity with minors. Sprague sent screenshots of the victim engaged in sexual conduct to one group member, an undercover officer, stating that he was “grooming” the victim. Sprague sent another user the images of the victim. He also expressed interest in the 11‑year-old stepdaughter of a chat group member who was actually an undercover officer.
