This is a return to the private sector for Stuart, who spent the past three-plus years as the presidentially nominated and Senate-confirmed United States attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia. CHARLESTON A Parkersburg man prosecuted under the Project Parkersburg initiative was sentenced to 10 years in a federal prison.
The prison term for Michael Rhodes, 41, will be followed by five years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, United States Attorney Mike Stuart said.
Rhodes had pleaded guilty and admitted to distributing methamphetamine in and around Parkersburg, Sguart said.
At the sentencing hearing on Thursday, United States District Judge Irene C. Berger noted Rhodes had traveled from Parkersburg to Arizona and California in 2018 and records showed calls and money transfers from Parkersburg to Sinaloa, Mexico, Stuart said.

CHARLESTON United States Attorney Mike Stuart announced Thursday that Ricky V. McLaughlin, 63, of Belpre, pleaded guilty to wire fraud.
McLaughlin faces up to 20 years in prison when sentenced on March 17.
“For more than four years, McLaughlin defrauded multiple customers of a significant amount of money. If not for the efforts of the Parkersburg Police Department, McLaughlin probably still would be ripping off classic car lovers.”
McLaughlin operated the McLaughlin Motor Car Museum located in Parkersburg. McLaughlin sold collector cars, including various Pontiac Trans Am classic cars to individuals, and customers would send their collector cars to McLaughlin for restoration.
