Two newly acquired players set the pace as Rockets Hockey Club skated past the Twin City Thunder on Thursday.
Sam Lipkin, who recently turned 18, and 17-year-old Jake Bongo each scored twice for Rockets HC in a 4-3 USPHL NCDC victory at the Advent Health Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
Lipkin, who is committed to play at Quinnipiac University, started the season with the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League, appearing in six games. Thursday was his was the second game with Rockets HC. Bongo, a Sacred Heart recruit who was initially planning to play prep hockey this season, was appearing in his sixth game with Rockets.
Black Hawks Lose To Des Moines Wed. Night-Rematch Tonight At Home
The Black Hawks 3-game winning streak came to an Wednesday night in Des Moines, as the Buccaneers slipped passed Waterloo 3-2 at Wells Fargo Arena.
It was tied or a one-goal game for all but 32 seconds of action. In the third period, the Black Hawks drew back within a goal. Wyatt Schingoethe set up Michael LaStarza nicely for a slam dunk finish before the Buccaneers goalie Derek Mullahy could even react. The Black Hawks got a goal in the 2nd, when Ethan Szmagaj shot a pass to Cooper Wylie and rifled his shot to the top corner.

CLEVELAND, Ohio On Nov. 4, nearly two months before their regular-season opener at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, the Cavaliers submitted a variance request in response to the order that limits the number of fans allowed at indoor sports venues.
In the letter written by Cavs CEO Len Komoroski to the Interim Director and Deputy Director of the Ohio Department of Health, Komoroski asked for an allowance of 4,596 people 23.65% of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse’s typical 19,432-person maximum.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Progress is being made repairing the ImOn Ice arena in Cedar Rapids.
The venue s released an update thanking contractors and staff working on repairs, and thanking the public for its support.
The August derecho tore gaping holes in the roof and east wall of the arena, which is home to Cedar Rapids RoughRiders USHL (United States Hockey League) team.
The arena says it took 20 minutes to create all the damage, and months to repair it.
The venue says its most severe damage was to the Olympic side of the facility, where the entire west wall was ripped off and debris punctured the shared wall between the Olympic ice and NHL ice in several spots.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KELO.com) The Sioux Falls Stampede defensemen stole the show as three blue liners scores in a 5-3 victory over the Des Moines Buccaneers at Wells Fargo Arena Monday night. Five different players scored for the Herd, including two third period goals, while Noah Grannan made the start and earned the win in net, stopping 24 of 27 shots on net.
The Des Moines Buccaneers forward Zach Faremouth opened the scoring with a goal five minutes into the first period for his fifth of the season. Los Angeles Kings prospect Alex Laferriere assisted on the goal. The Herd responded with a goal from defenseman Brent Johnson at the 12:47 mark of the period, but LaFerriere answered back with his third goal of the season to take a 2-1 lead.
