Lyndsay Marshall had been to visit her daughter Kacey’s grave at Washingborough baby cemetery, to celebrate what would have been her 17th birthday on Sunday, April 18. Kacey was born in 2004, but survived a matter of hours after being born premature at just 28 weeks of Lyndsay’s pregnancy. So on the day of Kacey’s birth, Lyndsay went up to the grave to take with flowers, only to discover something horrifying.

Following a review in March, Mr Justice Linden ruled that the trust breached its legal duty to consult people on the changes, and said the decision taken in June 2020, which saw a number of services transferred out of the hospital and the creation of an Urgent Treatment Centre, had been unlawful. United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust has apologised following the result and said it will not appeal the decision.

The government’s COVID-19 dashboard on April 19 reported 37 new cases in Lincolnshire, 15 in North Lincolnshire and four in North Lincolnshire. On Monday, one death was recorded in Lincolnshire and one in North Lincolnshire. This figure includes deaths both in and out of hospitals, as well as residents in hospitals outside the county.
