The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Friday the state has 305,861 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and there have been 4,953 deaths since the outbreak started. Overall the state said 35% of the population has been vaccinated with at least one dose. Kansas is now only updating COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Friday there have been 496,157 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak and 8,635 deaths. The Unified Government Public Health Department has been one of the first in the Kansas City metropolitan area to drop an appointment requirement to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. â Bob Bennett is the COVID-19 vaccine operations director for the Unified Government Public Health Department, which covers Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.
He gets excited when he has the chance to talk about COVID-19.
âOur goal is to end the pandemic, not just to give out shots,â he said.
And about four months into vaccine distribution, Bennett said the health department is âthe most efficient operation in pretty much the entire United States.â
