BGB-BSF talks will be held from December 22 to 26 in Guwahati Dhaka, Dec 21 (UNI) The 51st round of director general (DG) level talks (DGLT) between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will be held from 22 to 26 December in India’s Guwahati. BGB DG major general Md Shafeenul Islam will lead an 11-member Bangladesh delegation while his BSF counterpart Rakesh Asthana will lead a 12-member delegation at the routine boarder conference, said a BGB press release today. Concerned officials from prime minister’s office (PMO), home ministry, foreign ministry and senior BGB officials will represent the Bangladesh delegation in the conference while senior officials of BSF headquarters, frontier IGs and concerned officials of the Indian home ministry and external affairs ministry will represent the BSF delegation.

During this conference, the BSF delegation led by Rakesh Asthana, Director General, BSF will hold talks with the BGB delegation headed by Major General Md Shafeenul Islam, BGBM (BAR), NDC, PSC, Director General, BGB. The release stated, The aim of the Director-General talks is to discuss border-related issues, and to enable better coordination between both border guarding forces.

India-Bangladesh border talks to be held in Guwahati from Tuesday

This is for the first time in four decades that the biannual conference will be held outside Delhi. The BSF delegation will be led by Director General Rakesh Asthana while the BGB delegation will headed by the force s chief Major General Md Shafeenul Islam. The conference will focus on addressing and streamlining mechanisms on how to jointly curb various trans-border crimes and timely sharing of information between both the border guarding forces, an official statement said.
