DPWH: Expansion of Plaridel bypass finished by March 31

SunStar + March 07, 2021 THE widening of the 2.22-kilometer portion of the 24.61-kilometer Arterial (Plaridel) Bypass Road in the Province of Bulacan is almost complete, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said. The new four-lane road is expected to resolve the slow traffic movement due to increasing volume of vehicles utilizing the existing two-way-two-lane bypass road that connects North Luzon Expressway in Barangay Burol, Balagtas with Daang Maharlika Highway in Barangay Maasim, San Rafael. In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations Emil K. Sadain said the widening of the 1.063-kilometer road and construction of two two-lane bridges adjacent to existing bridge, namely, 1.121-km Angat Bridge (Bridge No. 8) and 40.86 linear meter Bridge No. 9 under Contract Package 3 of the Arterial (Plaridel) Bypass Road Phase 3, will be fully completed by end of March 2021.

DPWH - JICA conducts Portfolio Review Meeting

MANILA, Feb. 17 The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Philippines has conducted a review meeting to discuss activity progress, implementation challenges and the action plan for projects under JICA portfolio.  In his report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations Emil K. Sadain said that the meeting with JICA Philippines officials led by Chief Representative Azukizawa Eigo, provided the opportunity for review and assessment of Japan-assisted key on-going and new pipeline infrastructure projects under the President Rodrigo Roa Duterte administration in support of the Build, Build, Build program. 

DPWH is looking at the construction of three new bridges across the Marikina River

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has plans to make three new bridges that cross the Markina river. The DPWH has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding between it and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a loan application for the construction of the said bridges. The estimated total cost of the project is said to be more than P9 billion in total. Two out of the three bridges will be located in Marikina City. These will be the J.P Rizal Lopez Jaena Bridge and the Marcos Highway St. Mary Bridge. The last of the three will be the Kabayani Katipunan Avenue Extension Bridge which will be a connection point between Markina City and Quezon City allowing for faster travel between the two.
