New Delhi, May 13 (IANS): Olympic Games-bound rifle shooter Apurvi Chendela will gradually increase intensity at the Indian national camp in Zagreb, Croatia, as she is yet to recover fully from a bout of Covid-19, said her coach Rakesh Manpat on Thursday.
Apurvi, who qualified in women s 10 metres air rifle event, is part of the Indian team that is undergoing a two-month long camp that started on Wednesday. She fell ill in the last week of last month. Since her Covid-19 test came negative she boarded a charter flight to Croatia with the national team on Tuesday. But we plan to gradually move to hard training, Manpat told IANS.

Kingston, May 13 : The Barbados Tridents said on Thursday that captain Jason Holder, along with his fellow Barbadians Shai Hope, Kyle Mayers, Raymon Reifer, Justin Greaves, Nyeem Young and Joshua Bishop have, been retained for the 2021 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
In addition to the local playing contingent the Tridents have retained opening batsman Johnson Charles and leg spinner Hayden Walsh Jr, who was player of the tournament when the Tridents claimed the CPL title in 2019.

New Delhi, May 10 (IANS): Olympic Games-bound wrestler Sumit Malik could be out of action for up to three weeks after his old knee injury resurfaced during the recent World Olympic qualifiers in Sofia.
Due to this reason, the 28-year-old wrestler gave a walkover to his opponent, Russia s Sergei Kozyrev, in the final of the 125kg category in Sofia on Saturday night. He had won the Olympic quota place by entering the final.
Finalists in each weight category were allotted tickets to the Olympic Games, scheduled to be held in Tokyo from July 23.

New Delhi, May 9 : Olympic Games-bound 10-meter air pistol shooter Saurabh Chaudhary, recovering from Covid-19, has been advised not to rush back to hard training as it could have a damaging impact on his performance, says a national level pistol coach. He has just got back to training after 15 days break due to Covid-19. He might feel okay, but it s not advisable to rush back immediately to hard training sessions as it could set in residual fatigue. Since the Tokyo Olympics are around 75 days away the talented shooter should take it easy otherwise it could prevent him from performing up to his optimum level, the coach told IANS.
