A YOUNG figure skater from Skipton has overcome challenges with her disability and will be going for gold in two Special Olympics events. Jennifer Lee, 24, who has trained at Bradford Ice Arena for the last ten years, has been selected to compete in the 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Kazan, Russia. Jenny, a former pupil at South Craven School in Cross Hills, will compete in the level three figure skating singles category and in a pairs event with Callum Mills, a young man from Chesterfield who has charge syndrome and is deaf. Her mother, Helena Lee, said: Jenny was quite normal when she was born, but then at nine months we noticed she wasn t able to sit up. At three, wasn t able to walk.

Kazan 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games organisers mark one year to go

Friday, 22 January 2021 With the 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games now only one year away, organisers in Kazan and Special Olympics executives have expressed their support for the upcoming competition. The Games are due to run from January 22 to 28 next year in Russia. More than 2,000 athletes from 108 countries are due to compete in seven sports at the event. These sports are Alpine skiing, snowboarding, floorball, cross-country skiing, figure skating, short track speed skating and snowshoeing.  An estimated 3,000 volunteers will support the athletes. Special Olympics is proud to host World Winter Games 2022 in Kazan in Russia, said Special Olympics chief executive Mary Davis.

TT floorball team set to compete at 2022 Games Caribbean coaches and players who participated in the International Floorball Federation workshop in Jamaica last year. - THE Special Olympics TT (SOTT) is presently preparing a floorball team for the 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Kazan, Russia. This is the first time TT would be competing in this discipline, having previously featured in floor hockey at the past six editions. Floorball is a versatile indoor team sport played in a rink with five field players plus a goalkeeper in each team. It’s played with plastic sticks and a light ball and with a goalkeeper without a stick.
