UPDATE: Richmond s longest-serving TV meteorologist, Jim Duncan, signs off after 40 years

Here s what categories and colors mean for severe thunderstorm outlooks. After 40 years of covering central Virginia’s weather on WWBT NBC12, Jim Duncan delivered his final forecast early Wednesday evening. But right until that farewell, which was announced earlier that morning, his focus was still on the weather itself as a handful of severe storms threatened the region. But as if on cue toward the end of the 6:00 newscast, bad weather abated in time for a career retrospective spanning from hand-drawn maps to social media. Along with recorded tributes from former weather colleagues around the country, he received a framed copy of Gov. Ralph Northam s recognition of March 31, 2021 as Jim Duncan Day.

Wipeout Returns Bigger, Bolder, Edgier — and Funnier, Thanks to Its New Hosts | Arts & Entertainment

After delays due to COVID, host and executive producer Jeff Probst says he is pumped. The hosts are also new — John Cena and Nicole Byer, with Camille Kostek on the field — and that “serious A-list talent changes the whole feel of the show,” Kunitz says. “We’re living vicariously through their eyes as viewers. It’s brought a completely different comedic tone to the show.” Perhaps the biggest changes over the years has to do with changing technologies, says Kunitz. “GoPro cameras didn’t really exist,” Kunitz reminds us. “To have a POV [point-of-view] camera — and one that would work underwater — we were looking at these medical-grade cameras that were not used for filming television shows.”

Jimmy Fallon found home hosting scary

Jimmy Fallon has admitted it was definitely scary hosting his show from home. The 46-year-old star was forced to host The Tonight Show remotely from March 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic and although he found it challenging at first, he also learned a lot from the experience. He recalled: It was like taking a course in communications or filmmaking. I remember doing a show where the Roots were performing in their backyards, and I m shooting with a cell phone on a tripod that s going to fall over, and then it started raining. And then it s taking forever to transmit the footage because everybody in the house is using the internet and it s slow. It was definitely challenging. Definitely scary. But we did so much this past year. We probably don t even realize how much we all did.
