Referring to the purported chats widely reported in media which mentioned that Goswami was privy to the Balakot air strikes, NCP chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase said, It is extremely shocking and disturbing to know how issues related to national security have been used to gain TRPs. Tapase said he will meet Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Tuesday on the issue and seek clarification from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the chatgate .

In the wake of purported WhatsApp conversations between Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) head Partho Dasgupta emerging in the public domain, the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) on Monday said ratings of television news channels should remain suspended till the TV ratings agency takes action to address concerns and shares details of it with the stakeholders.
In a statement, the Rajat Sharma-headed NBA said it is “shocked to see hundreds of WhatsApp messages that have been exchanged between BARC India’s former CEO Partho Dasgupta and Arnab Goswami, Managing Director, ARG Outlier Media Pvt. Ltd”.

Days after chats of Partho Dasgupta, former chief executive officer of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) with Arnab Goswami, journalist and Republic TV’s Editor-in-Chief were leaked by the Mumbai Police, the Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday criticized India and said that the chats “vindicate Pakistan’s long-held position”.
“The latest revelations further confirm what Pakistan has consistently pointed out: The BJP government stages “false flag” operations; maligns Pakistan with terrorism-related allegations; stokes hyper-nationalism in the country; claims to have launched so-called “surgical strike”; and then deviously manipulates national sentiment in its bid to win elections,” the ministry said in a statement
