1. Suvendu Adhikari quits Trinamool Congress, likely to join BJP in Amit Shah s presence
Ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections, aggrieved West Bengal politician Suvendu Adhikari today quit the Trinamool Congress. Over the last few weeks, the heavyweight leader has gradually resigned from all administrative posts. Most recently, on Wednesday, he had submitted his resignation as MLA to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
Now, in a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he said that he was tendering his resignation as a member of the All India Trinamool Congress as well as from all other positions held by him in the party and its associate organisations with immediate effect .
Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) in connection with the alleged TRP (Television Rating Points) rigging scam, an official said. Romil Ramgarhia, former COO of the BARC, was arrested in the afternoon by a team of Mumbai crime branch, which is probing the TRP case, he said. This is the 14th arrest in the case. During the probe, Ramgarhia s alleged involvement in the case came to light, following which he was placed under arrest today, the police official said. He would be produced before a local court, he added.

MUMBAI: Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) in connection with the alleged TRP (Television Rating Points) rigging scam, an official said.
Romil Ramgarhia, former COO of the BARC, was arrested in the afternoon by a team of Mumbai crime branch, which is probing the TRP case, he said.
This is the 14th arrest in the case.
“During the probe, Ramgarhia’s alleged involvement in the case came to light, following which he was placed under arrest today,” the police official said.

Romil Ramgarhia is the first person associated with BARC to be arrested in this case, and the 14th so far.
In July 2020, Romil had quit as BARC India COO after a six-year stint. Knowing nothing about measurement to building the world s largest TV measurement company; from single-digit to 400+ people organisation, he had said after quitting.
TRP, measured by recording viewership data at sample households, is crucial for getting advertisers.
The Mumbai police has claimed that TRP ratings were being manipulated by three channels including two local regional channels and Republic TV.
