Sheriff s Captain Scott Behrns says K9 Deputy Rajko passed away peacefully today at 11:30 AM. Behrns says his handler, Sergeant Ryan Mangan, was with Rajko when he was put down after being diagnosed with terminal cancer earlier in the week and his medical condition deteriorated. photo courtesy Olmsted County Sheriff s Office Earlier this week, the Sheriff s Office reported that K9 Rajko had undergone surgery after a veterinarian discovered some internal bleeding. The surgery was successful and Rajko was discharged to his home to recover but apparently took a turn for the worse.

The event, returning after being canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, has been plagued by fights, confrontations, and disorderly conduct. Sheriff’s deputies were spat on and kicked Wednesday night by a group of teenagers and authorities say those kinds of incidents are continuing and one injured a member of the fair board. Dozens of teens have been reported to be involved.
