Source: Horizon Nuclear Power Horizon Nuclear Power has officially withdrawn its application to build the proposed Wyfla Newydd nuclear facility, dashing hopes a new investor might take over on the scheme. In December, the company, a subsidiary of Hitachi, was granted a delay to the scheme’s development consent order after it said it was in “early conversations with third parties” about transferring the site. But in a letter yesterday, Horizon chief executive Duncan Hawthorne said: “As you know, Hitachi announced the suspension of the project in January 2019 and its intent to withdraw entirely in September 2020. In light of this and in the absence of a new funding policy from HM Government, Hitachi Ltd has taken the decision to wind-up Horizon as an active development entity by 31 March 2021.”
