The recent reports brought WIPP’s total caseload since March 2020 to 256.
During the fall and winter, WIPP consistently saw double-digit weekly case increases as the pandemic spread through New Mexico.
But in February, as more COVID-19 vaccines became available in the state and across the nation, WIPP’s numbers appeared to subside.
The two latest workers reportedly infected were last at the site between Feb. 16 and 24 and reported their positive test results between Feb. 18 and 24.
As of Friday, WIPP had four active cases of workers recovering from the virus before being allowed back to work.
Meanwhile, New Mexico continued to see a decline in its daily case count with 245 reported on Sunday.
