3 FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Hundreds gathered in Wilson Theater to welcome Col. Andrew Q. Jordan as he assumed command of U.S. Army Garrison-Fort Campbell from Col. Jeremy D. Bell June 28 during a change of command ceremony. From Soldiers and Families to Department of the Army civilians and community partners, attendees showed their support for the incoming and outgoing garrison commanders as they look to the installation’s future. “We are truly blessed with the opportunity to return and serve alongside the best team that the Army has to offer,” said Jordan, who has previously served at Fort Campbell in 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). “We look forward to serving the Soldiers, Families, Army professionals and the communities of the greater Fort Campbell area to make this a great place to live and work.”

However, for one Oklahoma Army National Guard sergeant major, it is a solemn date to remember. This June 25 marks the 25th anniversary of the Khobar Towers bombing - an attack carried out by the Hezbollah terrorist organization that killed 19 United States Air Force Airmen and wounded hundreds, including Senior Airman Clifton Fulkerson, a 23-year-old aircraft mechanic who now serves as the Oklahoma National Guard’s Directorate of Military Support sergeant major. Fulkerson, who left the Air Force in 2008 and joined the Army National Guard in 2009, was preparing to return to the United States from his second combat deployment to Saudia Arabia.
