Officer Samuel Flowers was driving south on Martin Luther King Boulevard on his way to an unrelated disturbance call when he encountered Quinton Pace also driving south. Pace struck Officer Flowers’ vehicle several times before both vehicles were disabled. As Officer Flowers was trapped inside his vehicle as Pace exited his vehicle with a gun and began firing at Officer Flowers.

Midwest City Man Accused Of Targeting Officer Admits He Wanted Police To Kill Him

By: Jennifer Pierce OKLAHOMA CITY - A man was accused of using his car and gun to attack an Oklahoma City police officer on Sunday that led to an officer-involved shooting. During an interview with investigators, 37-year-old Quinton Pace admitted he was trying to get police to kill him.  Pace told investigators he left his home in Midwest City on Sunday morning with a gun and was looking for an officer to stop him. After unsuccessfully attempting to get police attention on metro roads, Pace targeted an officer near Northeast 52nd Street and Martin Luther King Avenue. He allegedly side-swiped Officer Samuel Flowers and then rammed his patrol car, causing both drivers to crash. The officer was trapped in his car.

Police Identify Suspect In NE OKC Deadly Double Shooting

By: Jennifer Pierce Oklahoma City police identified a suspect allegedly involved in a double shooting that took the life of a woman last week. Police arrested 51-year-old Dennis Walker Senior recently on one first-degree murder complaint. Police said a witness helped investigators connect Walker to the deadly shooting of 57-year-old Joyce Smith. Police have not said what the relationship was between Walker and the victim. Police first came across Walker last Tuesday in the intersection of Northeast 36th and Kelley Avenue. An officer driving into work found Walker sitting in the driver seat of a blue Suburban, one of the windows was shot out.

(Courtesy photo/Oklahoma Watch) When U.S. Department of Justice investigators inspected the Oklahoma County Detention Center in April 2007, they discovered that severe overcrowding was causing significant harm to detainees. “Throughout the facility, we found detainees sleeping on the floor and three or four detainees locked into two-man cells,” investigators wrote in a 2008 report that found conditions inside the facility did not meet constitutional standards. “The detainees spend nearly 24 hours per day in these cramped quarters.” The jail’s population has dropped by about a third over the past 12 years – from 2,412 in June 2009 to 1,595 on March 31. Water To Be Shut Off For Repairs At The Oklahoma County Detention Center

This is for repairs that administrators say are necessary. According to a statement from jail administrators, repairs on the facility are expected to begin around 3:30 a.m. and be completed by 11 a.m. They say they will be finished before the end of the day and that water should be off for no more than eight hours. Inmates will be given two pre-made meals and bottled water to drink. Administrators say all inmates know about the temporary shut off. They will be given water buckets for flushing until regular water service is restored. Visitors to the Detention Center will not be allowed to use the bathrooms.
