Updated: 3:05 PM CDT Apr 15, 2021 KOCO Staff The Oklahoma County District Attorney determined that a man, arrested Sunday after a deadly shooting at a northwest Oklahoma City home, acted in self-defense and has been cleared of charges and released, according to Oklahoma City police.According to police, officers responded at about 5:19 a.m. Sunday to a report of a shooting at a home near Northwest 30th Street and Independence Avenue. They found two people who had been shot.Police said one victim, 47-year-old Zachariah Perry, was found inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. Another person, a 37-year-old male resident, had also been shot at the home. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.Investigators said they learned there was some type of altercation that took place inside the home between Perry and a female resident. By: Jennifer Pierce OKLAHOMA COUNTY - The Oklahoma County District Attorney amended The Village police officer Chance Avery’s criminal charge during his preliminary hearing Wednesday morning. Avery was charged in the 2020 officer-involved shooting that killed Christopher Poor. The charge was amended from manslaughter to second-degree murder. Avery’s attorney Gary James said his preliminary hearing was continued to allow time to prepare witnesses. One of the witnesses could be Poor’s estranged wife Melissa Poor. She let him in their home last July to gather his belongings. She also called The Village police to be there. Avery responded to the domestic call and was wearing his body camera at the scene. Poor, a man with a violent past, confronted the officer with a bat.

In November, Stavian Rodriguez was killed after officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at an Oklahoma City gas station, authorities said. The owner of the gas station managed to leave and lock Rodriguez inside as officers surrounded the business, police said. Rodriguez was shot after he climbed out the drive-thru window, police said. Security camera footage released by the Oklahoma County District Attorney s Office Wednesday shows Rodriguez emerge from the convenience store building as officers yell for him to show his hands, lay on the ground and drop his firearm. Rodriguez can be seen dropping a gun on the ground and reaching toward his back pocket before the officers open fire.

The Oklahoma County District Attorney also released surveillance video from the store police said Rodriguez robbed before he was shot and killed. More than a dozen Oklahoma City officers in uniforms and plain clothes surrounded the Okie Gas Express near Southwest 79th Street and South Western Avenue last November. Police said an armed robbery suspect was locked inside the store. Rodriguez s only exit was a drive-through window on the side of the building.
