Since Jan. 1, the rolling average of deaths in Oklahoma due to COVID-19 has increased from 23 per day to 40.57 as of Jan. 29, according to data from the COVID Tracking Project. State health officials have said it can take several weeks to confirm a death was caused by COVID-19. The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Sunday reported 2,882 new virus cases, for a total of 389,472 since the pandemic began last year.

One-day record of 65 COVID-19 deaths reported in state OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Wednesday reported 65 deaths in one day blamed on COVID-19, a daily record for the state. The previous high total for deaths on one day was 62, reported on Jan. 6. The Health Department also reported 2,686 new virus cases on Wednesday. The state has recorded 3,388 deaths so far blamed on the pandemic, out of a total 379,110 counted cases. The seven-day rolling average of new deaths in the state has increased the past two weeks from 33.29 per day to 40.86. The rolling average of new cases has declined from 4,169.86 per day to 2,578.57, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
