Oklahoma Bureau Of Narcotics Links Illegal Marijuana Farm To Bigger Case

By: Sylvia Corkill Investigators are connecting the dots in a big marijuana case. They seized more than 10,000 plants Tuesday in Erick, Oklahoma after two raids in Logan County last week. According to Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the farms are linked to one another, and while no arrests were made several are expected. Since the legalization of medicinal marijuana, OBN spokesman Mark Woodward said while tens of thousands of legitimate growers operate in Oklahoma, there are others illegally capitalizing on the industry. “We are wanting to send a message that Oklahoma is not going to be a safe haven for criminals to come here and take advantage of our cheaper land and lower licenses,” said Woodward.

Couple Charged With 1st-Degree Murder In Overdose Death Of Chickasha Teen

Two suspects are charged with first-degree murder in the October 2020 overdose death of a Chickasha teenager. Lawrence Anderson Jr., 23, and his girlfriend, Krishel Cowan, 25, were charged with murder on April 28 in Grady County District Court. Anderson Jr. and Cowan are accused of selling Austin Fox, 18, counterfeit oxycodone pills which lead to his overdose early in the morning hours of October 2, 2020. Anderson Jr. is the son of Lawrence Anderson, the suspect in a horrific triple homicide in Chickasha. In February investigators said Anderson killed Andrea Blankenship, cut her heart out and attempted to feed it to his uncle, aunt and their 4-year-old granddaughter. Anderson’s uncle and his granddaughter were found stabbed to death.

Prosecutors told jurors Nichols showed a blatant disregard for life by prescribing hundreds of pills to each victim without a legitimate medical need.  Nichols faces at least 10 years in prison on the single count. Her sentencing will come at a later date.

OBN Raids Medical Marijuana Farm – More Could Come

By News Director Jared Atha The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics conducted two raids Friday morning at a home and a medical marijuana farm in Logan County, seizing about ten to fifteen thousand plants due to criminal activity. A couple months ago, OBN received a tip that there was marijuana being sold in bulk on the black market. Mark Woodward, spokesman for OBN, said the business in Guthrie appears legal, however behind the scenes it is a different story saying OBN is looking at this as a criminal organization that is simply using Oklahoma’s medical marijuana program to continue to operate their illegal operation under the guise of a medical marijuana farm.
