That may mean that mass vaccination clinics and drive-throughs will soon fade, giving way to pop-up clinics at neighborhood centers, high schools, churches and mosques, or being offered a vaccine at a doctor’s office during a routine visit.
“We ve kind of hit all those people who wanted it, who were fighting to get their vaccines, who were jumping in front of everyone else,” said Sarah Oleniczak, deputy health officer at District Health Department, which covers 10 central Michigan counties. “Now we can take a breath and we can go off-site.”
Getting Michigan to herd immunity by having at least 70 percent of its population vaccinated or otherwise immune won’t be easy. Few thought it would be. The strategy now shifts to a more arduous ground game into the nooks and crannies of Michigan.

OAKLAND COUNTY Getting the COVID-19 vaccine is easy.
Easy for fluent English speakers who are technology literate and have consistent access to the internet so they can sign up for various vaccination opportunities and then keep checking back for appointment availability. Oh, and then they have to line up transportation to and from the clinic site twice.

Michigan paused the use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine today after federal health officials recommended doing so Tuesday morning.
As of Monday, 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control is reviewing six cases where people got a rare and serious blood clot within two weeks of being vaccinated.
The CDC says treatment of this type of blood clot is different from what might typically be administered and is meeting Wednesday to review more information. The recommendations to pause administration of the vaccine have been made out of an abundance of caution the CDC said.

DETROIT – COVID case numbers in Michigan have been surging.
There are more than 3,000 people hospitalized, and half of those people are under the age of 60.
Dr. Russell Faust is the Medical Director of the Oakland County Health Division.
“I’m concerned but in general, we’re in a much better place than we were a year ago,” Faust said.
Beaumont Hospital said they were averaging about 100 COVID patients a month, now that number is closer to 600.

The state s latest eligibility benchmark couldn t have come any sooner as Michigan s infection rate has continued to skyrocket days after it was identified as having the biggest increase in new cases.
Michigan s leaders have said they don t plan on enacting more restrictions on businesses or schools. Instead, the state has opted to ramp up vaccines in an effort to boost immunity. So far, it s been successful among the groups that have been eligible for treatment.
