AMIR URGES MPs TO HONOR ASPIRATIONS OF PEOPLE
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 15: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated the National Assembly’s 16th Legislative session Tuesday, urging MPs to honor the aspirations of the people who elected them. His Highness the Amir, in his inauguration speech, called upon the Parliament members to meet aspirations of people “who placed a huge burden upon their shoulders” for the sake of achieving development.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 12: A total of 36 MPs-elect reaffirmed their commitment to vote for MP-Elect Bader Al-Humaidi as National Assembly Speaker during the third consultative meeting held in the house of MP-elect Marzouq Al-Khalifa on Saturday.

Al-Khalifa disclosed that almost 90 percent of the MPs-elect support Al-Humaidi, describing this percentage as unprecedented in the history of Kuwait. He urged the government to support the citizens’ decision which is reflected in this agreement among the MPs-elect.
He affirmed the MPs-elect are ready to cooperate with the government, but they will adopt another position in case the government has a different opinion. He said they already decided on the Speakership; but no agreement has been reached regarding the deputy Speaker as there are more than one candidate for the post – Hassan Jawhar, Essa Al-Kandari, Ahmed Al-Shuhoumi and Mubarak Al-Hajraf.
