Plant, nurture trees, UNIOSUN orders new students

Punch Newspapers Sections Bola Bamigbola, Osogbo Published 28 May 2021 The Osun State University, Osogbo, on Thursday formally inducted 3,671 out of the 10,000 candidates who applied for the 2020/2021 academic session, with a directive to the new intakes to plant a tree each to mark the commencement of their academic journey. The directive was given to the students during the matriculation ceremony held simultaneously in the six colleges of the university. Addressing the new students at the Osogbo main campus of the university, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof ‘Labo Popoola, said after planting the trees, the students must nurture them till they exit the institution. The VC, who was represented by the Provost, College of Science, Engineering and Technology, Prof Amos Popoola, said the university had zero tolerance for vices and would not hesitate to dismiss any student found wanting.

UNIOSUN management explains why it asked students to travel to Edo without their phones

Daily Post Nigeria Published Based on the complaints in some quarters that the Department of Geological Sciences of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) insisted that students of the Department of Geological Sciences commence a field trip to Igarra, Edo State without their phones in the middle of insecurity, the institution’s management has come out to explain that it has cancelled the trip. According to a statement by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, and made available to DAILY POST, the university management due to the agitations from the students and the reality of insecurity in the country had to cancel the study trip and approved that the students go ahead with the theory and also seek a safer place to do their field work.
