Cyclone Yaas has left a trail of destruction in Odisha’s Balasore and Bhadrak districts where the severe cyclonic storm made landfall on Wednesday morning and continued to wreak havoc for a few hours. Trees, branches, thatched roofs were seen flying as the wind swept at 150 kmph.

Odisha: A 15-year-old girl allegedly has been chained to a cot at her home in a remote village in Odisha’s Keonjhar district while her parents, both daily wage laborers, were away for work.
The parents have said that she has mental health issues. They have also said that she earlier studied at a residential school and had returned home after the lockdown.
She has been chained to a cot outside their two-room kutcha house, her legs tied together. The matter came to light after some social workers met the girl during a visit to the village.
Cabinet clears privatisation of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam

The Cabinet has approved privatisation of steel-maker Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), the ‘navratna’ PSU which runs the 7.3 million tonne (mt) capacity Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
The government currently holds 100 per cent stake in the company that makes long products used in construction.
“While approving the strategic disinvestment of RINL a few days ago, the Cabinet delegated powers to the Alternative Mechanism headed by the Finance Minister to decide whether the subsidiaries of RINL will be part of the transaction, depending on the feedback from potential investors,” a government official briefed on the Cabinet decision said.
