An Iowa City man wanted on warrants for a series of incidents was taken into custody Sunday.
Police say 31-year-old Adam Gibson of Westwinds Drive was charged with Driving While Barred, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, and Possession of Marijuana on July 18
th of this year. He allegedly failed to appear for his arraignment on November 13
th.
On October 17
th, police say Gibson was at the Iowa City Menards with another person. They reportedly entered the store carrying empty bags and walked around the store for over 40 minutes. At one point, video footage showed Gibson grabbed a multi-tool off the shelf and concealed it in his jacket. The two abandoned their shopping cart and left the store without attempting to pay for the item. Later that day, the pair were stopped by police and charged on unrelated offenses, but a search of the vehicle found the multi-tool and another item that Menards personnel confirmed were missing from the store. An Iowa City man was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after an alleged assault on a woman.
Police say the incident occurred in the 4pm hour at a Catskill Court residence. 26-year-old Antoine Bryant of Wayne Avenue allegedly struck the woman several times in the face, body and head. During the assault, Bryant reportedly locked the door of the residence, stood in front of it, and told the woman she wasn’t allowed to leave.
Bryant then continued the alleged assault until she fell into a fetal position. He then is accused of putting his knee on her neck until she couldn’t breathe. He then reportedly told her he was going to murder her and she wasn’t going to leave.
