Two Canastota men who had been working as mechanics for New York State Police are now on the wrong side of law, accused of stealing nearly $30,000 worth of auto parts and supplies from New York State and its taxpayers.
Jeffrey Rapasadi, 57, and David Relyea, 64, both of Canastota, were both civilian employees, charged with maintaining the State Police Troop D fleet of vehicles, based in Oneida, according to New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.
The thefts allegedly took place between April 2015 and October 2020.

Daniel Guild
The felony charge against the former Rhinelander City Administrator Daniel Guild has been dismissed. Guild, his attorneys, and Price County Judge Kevin Klein appeared via Zoom in Oneida County Court Thursday for a review hearing.
Guild was facing a felony charge of Misconduct in Office and Failure to Perform Known Duty in Oneida County.
In March 2020, Guild was arrested following an investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office regarding open records request.
In February, Guild reached a Deferred Prosecution Agreement with the Oneida County District Attorney.
If between February 5 and May 6 Guild followed the terms and conditions of his bond and didn’t violate any criminal laws, the charges against him would be dropped.
An arrest has been made in the Nov. 15 homicide at the Red Carpet Inn on Lawrence street in southern Rome, according to state police.
Wilfredo Cotto Jr., 40, of Rome, was indicted Thursday by an Oneida County grand jury on a charge of felony second-degree murder in connection with the death of 28-year-old Benjamin Davis of Milton, police said.
Following the indictment, an arrest warrant was issued for Cotto and he was arrested, officials said. A virtual arraignment in Oneida County Court is planned for Monday, May 3.
An autopsy performed by the Onondaga County Medical examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds, police previously said. The victim had been staying at the hotel and was shot in the early afternoon hours.
