(UPDATED) A thunderstorm with strong winds and heavy rain tore through Westernville Thursday evening, and there is evidence a tornado may have touched down in that area. Based on the rotation on the WKTV StormTracker 2 doppler radar and damage reports from residents, Chief Meteorologist Bill Kardas says there’s good reason to believe a tornado was on the ground, but it has to be officially confirmed by the National Weather Service. The NWS in Binghamton has scheduled a storm survey in Westernville for Friday, and expect to have the final assessment later in the day.
