Syracuse, N.Y. The Onondaga County Democratic Committee Wednesday named candidates who will run for each of the 17 seats on the county legislature this year as part of an effort to win control of the body from Republicans.
Republicans currently outnumber Democrats 11 to six on the legislature. And the GOP is targeting three seats in and around the city that are held by Democrats.

Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse Democrats will meet tonight to decide on a candidate for this fall’s mayoral race.
Common Councilors Khalid Bey and Michael Greene are vying for the Democratic Committee’s designation to run against incumbent Ben Walsh for mayor in November. The committee will hold a virtual vote on the candidates this evening.

Syracuse, N.Y. The city’s Republican Party will put forward a candidate to run for mayor in 2021.
The Republicans picked Janet Burman as their candidate during a committee meeting Thursday night. If she ends up on the ballot, Burman would challenge Mayor Ben Walsh, who is seeking reelection as an independent, as well as whichever candidate the Democrats choose.

Syracuse businessman Stephen Skinner has announced he is running for Onondaga County Legislature, taking on incumbent Democrat Peggy Chase for the right to represent the area both call home the village within the city known as Eastwood.
