A couple and their two adult children were identified as the victims of a fatal fire Tuesday night, according to the Oneida County Sheriff s Office.
Richard C. Davis, 79, his wife, Johanna M. Davis, 79, their son, Richard C. Davis, 50, and their daughter, Tina M. Davis, 59, were found dead at their home on Rome Oriskany Road in the city of Rome after firefighters responded to the fully-involved house fire, officials said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, firefighters said Thursday.
Rome firefighters received a call at about 8:59 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters entered the homes and removed two of the residents initially, before recovering the other residents remains after extinguishing the fire later that night, officials reported. The bodies were later identified by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner s Office.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the four people who were killed in a house fire on Rome-Oriskany Road on Tuesday night.
The victims have been identified by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office as the home’s owners, 79-year old Richard Davis and his wife, 79-year old Johanna Davis and their son and daughter, 50-year old Richard Davis and 59-year old Tina Davis.
All four were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office will release the names of the victims when identification is confirmed.

Rome fire chief describes futile attempt to rescue family of 4 from fatal fire

Rome, N.Y. Despite first responders’ attempts, Rome firefighters were not able to save a family of four from a fatal blaze Tuesday night, the chief said in an interview today.
Firefighters were called to 7736 Rome-Oriskany Road just before 9 p.m. When they arrived, they saw flames coming from the west-facing side of the house, Rome Fire Chief Thomas Iacovissi said.
Crews entered each of the two bedrooms on the east-facing side of the home, where they found a body in each of the bedrooms.
