Downtown s iconic Omni Jacksonville Hotel has been sold, one of five properties across the country passed on to new owners, according to the chain.
In a brief statement issued Friday, Omni Hotels & Resorts President Peter Strebel said the hotel at 245 Water St. was named in August as one of the hotels it intended to sell since they no longer align with the strategic direction of its company. Omni owns 60 hotels in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with about 21,000 total rooms and 20,000 employees. The sale closed on February 25, the statement said. The new owner will transition the hotels out of the Omni system later this year. We’re grateful to all of the Omni leaders and associates who made these five hotels successful and look forward to reinvesting these funds into the future of our brand.”
