The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OyoSUBEB) has commenced the training of language teachers and non-formal education centre facilitators across the state, in partial fulfilment of the execution of Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA).
The Executive Chairman, Oyo SUBEB, Dr Nureni Adeniran, said the programme was facilitated in conjunction with the World Bank and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), for proper training of the facilitators for the task ahead.
Dr Adeniran, who revealed this at Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan, during the opening of the training taking place at different centres, said the training would target participants from 21 local government areas of the state for the BESDA programme.

It is a global view that primary school is the foundation of any child’s education as proper development of a child at that level prepares the child to cope brilliantly with the challenges of further education.
In Oyo State, there are about 2,000 public primary schools spread across the 33 local government areas of the state, but it saddens one’s heart that most of these schools are in a dilapidated condition.
This factor, if not given the desired attention, could promote truancy among school-age children if well-meaning Nigerians fail to assist the government in the running of schools in the state.

The Oyo State Government has warned youths in the state to against violence and unhealthy rivalry among gangs, stating that insecurity does not do any society any good.
A statement by Moses Alao, Special Assistant (Print Media) to Governor Seyi Makinde, indicated that the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Bayo Lawal, gave the admonition on Monday, while briefing journalists shortly after the security meeting held at the Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of the state.
Recall that there have been recurrent cases of cult gang wars by warring youths groups in parts of Ibadan leaving destruction in its trail.

SUBEB, UBEC train 3,552 teachers in Oyo

THE Oyo state universal basic education board, (OyoSUBEB) in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, has concluded training of 3, 552 teachers in primary schools under its Teachers’ Professional Development Programme.
The Executive Chairman, OyoSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, in a chat with newsmen in Ibadan, said that the training was structured to herald the new academic session in the state.
Adeniran also said the training which was also structured to enhance teachers’ capacity and teaching efficiency in the new session.
Dr. Adeniran further said the training of teachers would enable them to provide quality education to primary school pupils at primary level.

Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board has trained no fewer than three thousand, five hundred and fifty-two (3,552) teachers.
DAILY POST reports that the teachers were trained in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission at the National level.
The primary school teachers were trained under the Teachers’ Professional Development Programme.
